Abstract: The thesis examined the optimal replenishment policies of three inventory models: 1. The rst model consists of a single period single item stochastic inventory model with two di erent suppliers. The optimality of the generalized (s; S) policy is shown using Quasi-variational Inequalities Techniques. 2. The second consists of a single model over an in nite planning horizon and where in the absence of intervention, the level of stock is governed by some deterministic di erential equation. The generalized (s; S) policy is shown using Quasi-variational Inequalities Techniques. 3. The third model of the thesis is an in nite horizon multi-period continuous state stochastic two-product inventory system. The demand rate in each period is stochas- tic. The problem of nding the optimal impulse control schedule that minimizes the total cost over an in nite planning horizon is formulated using dynamic program- ming. The optimal inventory policy is conjectured to have a modi ed form of (s; S) policy. Numerical investigations appears to support to the validity of the conjecture.
