Abstract: Recent developments in olefin metathesis have influenced dramatically organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, materials science, biochemistry, pharmaceutical industry and catalysts development. Ru-alkylidene catalysts of Grubbs and Hoveyda-Grubbs are efficient catalysts in different classes of olefin metathesis. Modifications of these Ru-catalysts are very important for development of more efficient, tolerant to different functional groups, recyclable and easy to remove with minimal Ru-contamination in the reaction products. The objectives of the present thesis include synthesis of new phosphine free Ru-alkylidene catalysts and application of these catalysts to olefin metathesis reactions. The New phosphine free Ru-Alkylidene catalysts 5-8 have been synthesized and characterized with spectroscopic techniques and X-ray single crystal.
