Abstract: In this thesis, fouling factor Rf correlations were developed for three heat exchangers all operating for crude units, two of which contain crude and the other one has desalted crude. Analyzing many factors effecting the heat exchangers performance and considering only the ones with greater impacts. The required inputs for these correlations are the temperatures of both shell and tube and the days of operation. The days of operation allows the consideration of how long the heat exchanger was on service. Moreover, the accuracy of the correlations was compared for several modules developed for the same heat exchanger using the regression method. The correlations chosen were based on their simplicity as well as their accuracy. The proposed correlations calculate the fouling factor, which is an indicator of the heat exchangers performance.
